Tuesday's class was very interesting and I learned a lot. First off the way we thoroughly read through The Declaration of Independence. Going through The Declaration of Independence did make me see and think of situations very differently than I have before. For instance I never took in to account the line, "that all men are created equal" if the people, Thomas Jefferson felt this way why did they continue slavery. This line was complete contradiction of their actions. Also I had never taken in to account the fact that The Declaration of Independence was really just a a piece of writing that will be justifying all of their actions good or bad.
David Walker's Appeal was a very strong piece to read, it shows a slaves perspective and tells that the reason many were being held as slaves seemed to be an economic justification. He also points out the "are we MEN?" saying he is a man as well and a brother difference amongst them is just a color.
Regarding the video on The Eugenics of Social Darwinism, the British took over an island called Tasmania. British took over the land and with out any order the settlers killed the the natives of the land. British thought that they can take over and killed all of the natives. They killed all 5000 natives.
